Rolls-Royce Product Redesign Doubles Operating Time

Rolls-Royce is planning to invest in blade coatings of A350-1000 engines to improve durability and resilience.

This coating will be especially effective for aircraft  operating in areas with lots of sand and dust. The company is working with Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to certify the new blade for the engine to double its time-on-wing.

Boeing 737 Max Quality Problems Continue

Quality problems have plagued Boeing’s 737 Max series since it went into service in 2017.

During 2018 and 2019, two of these 737 Max planes crashed, killing 348 individuals. Following these crashes, all of the 737 Max aircrafts were grounded for approximately two years.

In 2021, Boeing signed a three-year deferred prosecution deal with the U.S. Justice Department, which included more than $2.5 billion in penalties and an agreement to fully cooperate with any investigations.
